Position Description
CHAM is seeking a Computational-Fluid-Dynamics (CFD) Engineer to be based at its Wimbledon office, with the remit to contribute to all technical areas of the business, as follows:
- Contribute to software-development activities.
- Assist with technical-support services by investigating, finding and reporting on solutions to problems raised by Clients.
- Execute CFD consultancy contracts with Client interaction.
- Contribute to product marketing by technical writing for Newsletters and other publications and forums.
- Participate in technical sales by creating Sales demonstrations for prospective Clients.
The main task is to assist our Software Development Team to develop, implement, test and document new features being added to PHOENICS, our general-purpose CFD Code; and other CHAM software products. The successful candidate will also provide assistance to CHAM’s Technical Support Team, on an ad hoc basis, by investigating, finding and reporting on solutions to problems raised by CHAM’s customers.
Requirements
- PhD in Computational Science; Engineering; Mathematics, Physics or similar fields which include fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
- Knowledge of CFD, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, algorithmic software development, parallel computing and numerical methods.
- Experience in the use of CFD and CAD software, and MS office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Experience in software development with proficiency in programming languages such as FORTRAN, C, C++, C#, etc.
- Some experience in one or more of the following would be a distinct advantage: algorithms, cut-cell methods, immersed boundary methods, octree meshing, adaptive mesh refinement, solvers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform several tasks simultaneously.
- In addition to the above, applicants should be a team player with strong interpersonal skills.
